Questions about Striped boas

TSUSnakeGuy Sep 19, 2010 12:39 AM

Ok I have an adult female boa that was sold as a stripe and she is striped. Not one of those perfect line stripes but the jagged stripe. I bred her to a normal male and I got a few partial striped boas. A couple have 4 or 5 saddles connected to make that perfect even stripe but one is different. It has a couple of places down its body with the jagged stripes plus its body is a reddish color, different than the rest of its litter mates. Can someone please explain genetically what is going on here and what exactly the stripe gene does.
Thank you

My thoughts exactly. Striping is quite variable. If it is a genetic stripe line then some of the hets show some striping and that may be what is going on. OR you may just have an aberrant line of boas.
