2 breeding questions...

amp Sep 19, 2010 08:06 PM

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums. I love boas and have been keeping them for the last 16 years. This will be my first year to attempt breeding. I have enjoyed reading past posts and look forward to making your cyber-acquaintances.

My questions:

1) I have an 08 female that will not be put into breeding until next year. Do I cool her with the other adults that I will attempt to breed this year, or do I leave her temps normal and continue to feed her?

2) How large should an 07' female BCI be, to safely put into breeding?

Thanks,
Anthony

As for the 08'. Keep feeding her until next Oct. and do your cooling then as long as she is 3.5 yrs old and 12 pounds or so. Same with the 07' female. As long as she is 3.5 yrs old and is 12 pounds or more you should be good to go.

My 07' females are only around 8.5 lbs. I'll keep feeding them and get them ready to go next year. I have an 05 female that is way too aggressive to try and put on the scale, but she's got to be at least 20 lbs. I'll attempt to breed her this season and see how that goes.

-Thanks for the heads up.
