Did I do good?

Wyvern Sep 20, 2010 07:31 PM

My BF couldn't make the show this year so asked me to pick up a couple of Hypo Central American boas for him. I am not a boa person so not entirely sure if I did good or not at picking out for him.

The male was just labeled as a Hypo and is about 3 feet in length.

Female was sold to me as a Kahl line Hypo 100% het T pos. She is a good 4-4.5 feet in length. She is a bit odd looking on the pattern (or lack of / faded pattern).

Pictures of each are in the next two posts.

Female was sold to me as a Kahl line Hypo 100% het T pos. She is a good 4-4.5 feet in length. She's a bit on the nervous side but still a good temperment it seems. Initally tries to bolt when put down on the ground but then settled down quick for the camera.. actually had trouble taking pics cause she kept wanting to get her face into camera lens every time I turned around.

She is a bit odd looking on the pattern (or lack of / faded pattern). I didn't seem to have a problem getting the orange and bronze colors to show in the pics, but couldn't seem to bring out the dark reds. First third of the body you can see the faint pattern. Mid-third is mostly very faded almost patternless orange/bronze color and the last third of the body is mostly faded/patternless red/bronze color and throughout you have some black speckling. Not sure if she qualifies as a motley?

Not sure how much Central American is in those boas, looks like some for sure.. but I'd give you an A for effort, and those boas are very nice.

My wife, even when she was my GF, would never have done that for me, so I give you props! Your BF had better appreciate it, lol.

You did horrible. YOu better send them this way. Those are great looking boas. I love the female. She is awesome. Post pics later if you breed her and babies come out similarly patternless to her. Thanks for posting.

My BF is afraid he'll never get them in his hands at this point. So far all he's seen are the pics too and he can't wait to exam them in person himself. I hope we won't have to wait long to try to breed the pair.

Fed them both last night. The female being the nervous one I fully expected to be a very aggressive feeder, but she was very ladylike and delicately took the F/T rat. The sweety pie male on the other hand was a psycho... F/T rat in the tongs simply vanished without a trace before my eyes he was that fast.. glad I had tongs and not used my hand.
