Probable RI

txsnake Sep 20, 2010 09:35 PM

I have a baby RTB that has a likely RI. She currently displays weezing and a popping sound when exhaling. I have increased the daytime heat and added night time heat as well. I know that she probably needs to be checked by a vet but there is no herp vet within 200 miles. Has anyone had success with the increased heat only?

In mild cases, increased temps will many times pull them out of it. However, make sure that you also elevate the humidity as well or you can easily cause the RI to become more advanced. Humidity between 70 and 80% is best with the heat therapy.

I have a baby CA boa that was doing the same thing.. then it shed, and all is well. I guess the loose skin was affecting the nostrils. I've seen the same thing in rosyboas, that popping sound.

If you don't see bubbles in its nose, could it perhaps be in a shed cycle? Worth a check anyway before you fear the worst.
