More Pastel Superstripes

Albey Sep 22, 2010 11:54 AM

About a week ago Mark Haas posted some pictures of three Pastel Superstripes he had recently hatched out and I have to admit I was quite jealous. Well I don’t have to be jealous any longer. I just hatched out my own Pastel Superstripes along with some other cool stuff. I bred a Superstripe to a Pastel Yellow Belly and I got a nine-egg clutch. There were two Female Pastel Superstripes, one Male Pastel Ivory, two Pastel Specter’s, one Male and one Female Specter and two Yellow Belly’s. Here are some pictures of the highlights.

This is a picture of one of the breedings that produced the clutch.

This is one of the Female Pastel Superstripes - PASTSUPSTRIP10-1

Here is the other Female Pastel Superstripe - PASTSUPSTRIP10-2

Next up is the Male Pastel Ivory - PASTIVORY10-1

Up next is this Female Pastel Specter - PASTSPECT10-1

The last one is this Female Pastel Specter - PASTSPECT10-2

Here are a couple of pictures of Pastel Yellow Belly's and Pastel Specter's to show the differences in them. The Pastel Specter's are on the right and look a lot like Firefly's. Also note the faded heads.

There were also the two Specters and the two Yellow Belly’s but I left them out of this post. Hope everyone enjoys the pictures.

HUGE CONGRATS ON AN AWESOME CLUTCH. Those pastel SS's are going to color up nicely I bet. A prize for any collection. It's amazing how far along ball pythons have come in the last 10 years.

Nice stuff you have there Albey! I could have had pics like that to share (my quality pics however so they would differ some lol) but my female Super Stripe decided to lay nothing but 7 slugs this year , bummer as she was bred to a nice Pastel Ivory. He's plenty fertile too and has sired other perfect clutches. We Win some and we lose some , part of the risk we always take and often times take for granted I guess. First time clutches ALWAYS worry me a little ya know. I have another female Super Stripe that was also bred to the same Pastel Ivory, she was smaller so started breeding her later so not sure where she is even at actually , no ultrasound (need to get one of them from Grant , he's got nice ones and they aren't expensive or oversized either)guess she lays when she is ready . Maybe she will go late or next year even, not to worried about it actually.

I do on the other hand have a really smoking nice male Super Stripe produced from one of my customers who bought a Whirlwind off of me and later sold me back a male SS he had made, and that SS has been breeding well lately. He also started late (mid summer-- just about 1 yr old) and has been locked up with a couple thick Ivory girls over the summer! Heck maybe something will develop out of it, seems late but if they are fat and receptive I see no harm in breeding them , late is better than never.. right !

Take care Albey,
