Uro tail shedding?

salamander323 Sep 25, 2003 03:52 PM

Zuul, my uromastyx who I have had for nearly three years now, seems to be shedding tail scales. The outer scales have shucked off, exposing a black undersurface. It is not most, nor does it seem to cause her discomfort when I touch it.

Is that what I am seeing? A shedding tail? This is the first time she has done this.

Yes, I'm guessing tail shed. My two year old doesn't really shed his tail scales but has shed some. The scale under is black. So, if he seems healthy in other ways this should just be normal tail sheading.

Thanks!

Yes, she is pretty active and healthy. She gets a bit slow at times and sleeps alot, but then she wakes up and tears all over the place (in her tank - a 55 gallon all to herself).
