Weekend babies......

rainbowsrus Sep 27, 2010 10:57 AM

Saturday I found Tink had dropped her litter in her hide box. First clue was she was out of the hide and looking relatively thin. Also, if you look closely, you can see babies and a slug through the side of the hide.

Her head was hidden from view in the first pic, she was looking for a snack in the pile o stuff in the hide..

She found a partially developed baby/slug. pretty gross but is the first time I've seen a female eat something that kinda looked like a baby.....

Unfortunately I had to be somewhere so had to leave them for later. When I returned home I found 8 babies and 15 slugs. Here are the babies....

As I'm finding typical, this slug heavy litter was also female heavy at 2.6

Mom and babies are doing fine.

Nah, only a third of that at 111 so far. This year all the litters have been smaller ones. Still got some big girls cooking though!!!

I've seen the moms nudging around in the pile O' stuff. Picking out slugs and eating them. In this case it was half slug, half partially formed baby and she was eating it slug end first.....

I am hoping to break 200, that would be more than I ever produced in a single year before.
