What Would You Do?

livinginvestment Sep 29, 2010 09:00 AM

Hypothetically speaking, what would you do/buy if you came into some cash?

I have a few animals and morphs that I personally enjoy. Not sure that they are the best investment for breeding/selling but they are what I find appealing.

Now, if I had to go out and add to my collection a certain morph or boa species that will be the future of the boa market, what would you consider that animal to be? If you had the resources, what would you actually invest in?

Thanks,

Kenny

I agree it has to be something that you are passionate about, but if you are looking to take a risk and try to makesome decent cash, I believe adding color is a no brainer. Im not promoting new mutaions or mutations that are well established, but in my experience, if you can produce best in class quality, people will buy at good, fair, win-win prices. I for example went with marron for color, key west (color and pattern). I believe adding these and other incredible morphs to any project will make your animals very marketable. Pure BCC animals always seem to be a great choice as well. Blood and other bci morphs are great as well.

amen Dan read my post lol i kind of said the same thing with a twist why focus on what everyone else is doing but what appeals to the individual type color and most of all pattern types

It would depend on how much money lol Roswell, jaguar , raptor , keywest , and the marron boas are the newest on the seen and anything you put to them would be new and exciting like albino anery t-pos blood etc
just dont do what alot of people who are guilty of done plan project to project plan generations not just next year but 10 years down the line or even further if you can this how the big dogs stay ahead of the game lol and trust me on that note im just a puppy on a porch gnawing on a few bones lol
one thing i would do is try to see the animals in person too pics dont do some justice and others pics do more than they should lol
if it is new and exciting remember the new and exciting price lol

well this is the toiling answer alot of breeders have em in the classifieds but I found that reptile shows are a good place to start I dont dare mention some of the breeders that are on here because their names and their animals speak for them selves (hint hint) this is why I am blessed I live in southern California the breeder shows out here are smoking
now as for the Roswell morph got to look into the two types of albino Kahl and Sharp. Out of the two there are many types. Khal has lipstick, coral, groovy, and some of the more red. Sharps are well known for the high yellows and not really fading as they get older and Please note I am not saying Kahls fade but they are more known too
This is my opinion and I know someone will argue it but when dealing with a new morph like Roswell etc. Albino is the first that usually gets bred to it so with that said me personally I would go outside of the box maybe go t-pos , paradigm , or anery. I would try to steer away from what everyone else is doing and focus on the wow factor. It is one thing to produce a beautiful animal and another to produce one that just floors everyone (prime examples t-pos sunglows , t-pos bloods , paradigm motleys , and the most shocking was the red dragon) these are the best examples of outside of the box and the best part these were produced by established lines already out there hence the genetics being strong. My view is this dont do what everyone else is doing do what you want to do and if money is your only motive for breeding then your going to get disappointed.

I believe Eric has some Roswell Laddertails het for albino and Roswell Laddertails possible het for Albino.

steve at BoaMorph also has Roswell Laddertails poss het Albino.

I currently have 1.1 I'd really like to breed them into the Boa Woman Caramel Project as well as Anery Projects.

I personally am not a fan of alot of the hypo combos that are made with the pattern or even some color morphs and I personally am going to stay away from that.

Hypo jungles make the jungle less obvious in some cases unless you see the spotted tongue

Hypo Motleys most of the time loose their tight circle back patterns

Hypo Arabesques again loose their tight patterns along with the Roswell Paddertail animals.

Sunglow t pos have a less desirable look than what Jungle or Motley T Pos have.

If money wasn't an issue I would likely get the best examples of base morphs to create top notch combos including pattern and color mutations without the Hypo gene.

lol reddog Tracy Barker and her husband have one of the top lines hands down but you cant exclude other lines like the matriarch line (Tom Burke) boa woman caramel but back to VPI. The VPI crew have one of the most beautiful lines of t-pos and to me that is the pink panther line but to exclude other lines in his quest would be a mistake because he is looking for color. As we all know sometimes you have to combine to make the most extreme prime example is the VPI t-pos sunglow which I got to see in the flesh and that was something to be seen
