Lavender Snow - Purple Passion Cal King

Nokturnel Tom Sep 29, 2010 01:32 PM

One is better than none... and I am really loving this baby. Some of these pics come close to showing how there's a translucent pattern and a killer Lavender tint, especially on the face.
I will try and get some more pics soon

What are the genetics behind this beauty?

What else did you get from the clutch?

Wayne the Purple Passion Cal King is showing BOTH Lavender and Hypermelanism at the same time.

Similar to a Blizzard Cal King which is showing BOTH Albino and Hypermelanism at the same time.

The term "snow" is what is confusing.

I prefer Purple Passion myself but the originators now call them Lavender Snows....

No, HypEEER-melanistic(over-abundance). When the over-abundance of black pigment is cancelled out by the lavender gene, it leaves an even lighter lilac/purplish colored snake. Similar to an anery x amel corn(snow). The hyper-melanism acting in a similar way that the anery gene would in a corn or Honduran.

Well cool, ya both taught me something new today.

I'm so used to seeing and hearing people use the terms backwards, I made a bad assumption. And you know what folks say about assumptions!

LOL!, yeah, I know. Most people are so used to seeing the word hypomelanistic, they ASS-ume it is a misspelling when someone uses the much less frequently used term hypermelanistic..LOL!

And yes, wouldn't want to make an A$$ out of U and ME!..LMAO!!

Yup, you're right. Brain fart.

A few years back I bred a Mendota (hypermelanistic) to a Blizzard and got all hypermelanistics.

Cool snake.

I've got double hets (lavender & hypermelanistic) and have produced lavender and hypermelanistics from those clutches.....but no Purple Passions as of yet.

I also have some triple hets (albino, lavender, and hypermelanistic) and have produced Blizzards frm those, but no Purple Passions.
