hello to all. My husband and i are getting into breeding boas. however I am not sure as to all the meanings and terms used when describing traits and such. For example we have a t-positive caramel motley boa and a het motley. they are babies at this point but very beautiful. we also have two adult red tails. they are all very sweet and gentle. any information that people can give me would be greatly appreciated...when i see the terms hypo het and t-positive i am never entirely positive as to their exact meanings. we want to breed top-quality snakes so i guess i really need to figure these terms out. thank for your time and help

well not to sure what line is your t-pos . I dont know if I read your message wrong or right but it sounded like you have a het motley if this be the case their isnt such a thing motley gene is a co- dominate trait . or is it a motley het for caramel?
as for a explanation on genetics there are many sites to aid in this as for the lingo well that takes time lol but there are alot of people here including expert breeders that are willing to give you awesome advise

we were just told that our female caramel motley was t-positive and the male was termed as het. the breeder told us that once they were old enough to breed close to half the clutch should come out caramel or albino.

ok they are motley visual and het caramel yeah thats a going to be a good litter

once i figure out how to get pics right now they are just babies but we have two adult red-tails that are ready to breed. i fell in love with the look of the caramel female. hopefully we will get a real good pairing with all of our snakes. and thank you so much for all of your help.

assuming by what was explained the male is het for caramel or albino.....sorry if i confused you. i have had several different people explain what heterozygus (spelling) means but i'm still not sure which deffinition is correct.
