"Swamp Loggers" tv show and chain king

rtdunham Sep 30, 2010 09:58 PM

a promo now airing on the Discovery channel shows the workers encountering a nice big eastern king while they're using their giant machines to raze its habitat.

I saw that today too Terry. Unfortunately they will probably have it in a scene for some major "SHOCK" value for the TV audience while they continue merrily destroying it's natural habitat. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if one of the stupid loggers kills it right before our very eyes out of ignorance either. That's seems to be all most snakes on TV are ever used for.

I hope it isn't the case though, but the reality is that those guys are still destroying their habitat at a furious rate regardless, so it will probably die one way or the other anyway.

naaaa man....this is the 21st century....
The big dude w/dungarees on is actually a herper. He "rescues" the snake and takes it home to become part of his captive breeding program (he already has a female from last season's episode #4). Then he further goes on the world wide web (nods to Al Gore here)where he not only sells off his babies for a huge profit but joins a select clique of like minded people on a forum that discuss, among other things, the how-to's of keeping them in a perfect cage and the awful destruction of Our Nation's wild places......
....what a show!

that husband and wife survivor show when they were in Louisiana. The wife is British I believe. Anyways, they captured a gorgeous mudsnake eating an amphiuma. Unbelievable. The guy told his wife it looked like one snake eating another. Then he said it was a "water" snake eating an eel LOL!! He told his wife it wasnt poisonous because of the red belly and it must be a water snake. They did inspect the "eel" after they unfortunately killed both snake and amphiuma, and said it looked like a salamander. At least they ate both animals. The way these survivor reality shows are allowing the indiscriminant killing of wildlife to occur for shock value is appalling IMO!!!!! Bear Grylls and the hippie/military guy both killed gators in their shows. Stupid!!!

DMong Oct 01, 2010 11:25 AM

Yes, I DID see that stupid episode when he killed the red-bellied Mud snake and amphiuma. I was thinking...."yeah, what a wildlife "expert" the whole time too..LOL!

Yes, all those shows where they kill stuff and eat it is total BS!!, meanwhile, there are a bunch of tables just out of camera view with a buffet of snack food, McDonald's hamburgers, sod pop, etc.. for the camera crew and these other dopes to wash down the snake they just bit the head off of and consumed for no reason other than "SHOCK" value.

That stuff REALLY pisses me off!. Bear Grylis killed a nice Boa constrictor a few episodes a go too for no reason either. I'm sure him and his entire crew had ALL THE FOOD they possibly wanted,.........until the producer yelled.........."aaaaand ACTION!!. Then they portray they are freakin starving to death out in the wilderness all by themselves..HAHAA!!

yeah,...RIGHT!!

Just the other night I saw where Bear Grylls chopped-off the head of a rattlesnake, then pulled the skin off, tied-off the tail portion, then proceeded to urinate down the top of it untill it was filled like a condom, then tied the top of it off, threw it around his neck, then later on while walking through the desert, he un-ties it, hold it up, and takes some nice refreshing guzzles of his own urine mixed in with the snake guts!

yummmm!,....quite the thirst quenching drink for sure!..LMAO!!

So without further ado, check this out for yourelf....

Yeah, I saw that stupid episode!..HAHAA!

What about the episode with the nice looking cornsnake in the ladies flower bed, and Billy(the dumb-ass) thought it was a copperhead!!. Then ONLY upon examining the non-eliptical-shaped pupils, and divided subcaudals, did he THEN think it was probably harmless!..HAHAHA!!

What a bunch of knowledgeable "professionals!

Every episode with a snake in it always bends me outta shape really, even when he has a snake in his long set of tongs, he will jerk and wrestle around like the poor snake is actually giving him a hard time..LMAO!

I've got an idea for a survival show; have people fend for survival in an urban slum with no money, ,no friends, no cell phone, no shelter, and the only food is what they can find in a dumpster. They will have to fight rats and pigeons, cockroaches and fleas, etc and also other predatory humans. Oh, wait, there already is such a show now playing in every city on earth...

I encourage everyone to vent about this and other shows (IE Animal hoarders) on our blog. Right now I know for a fact that AP folks are reading it. Get on there and voice displeasure. Write something with out curse words.

Can't remember the title - "The Compound" or something like that. One guy cuts the head off of a beautiful speckled kingsnake. The knife looked dull because the poor snake was gasping while the guy was pushing the blade down trying to cut through..

Completely unnecessary treatment of wildlife.

There was an episode of Survivor in Australia where these bozos hunt and kill a little wild pig. Karma pays them back by the main guy falling hands first into the campfire and burning his hands so bad he had to leave the show.

As has been pointed out by someone else, just off camera there is plenty of food. Also the contestants did have rice, so they did not have to kill an animal. I am not entertained by killing of animals for show. Being a farmer I have had to kill plenty of animals, but never for fun. I don't even like to make fish suffer.

I remember that it seemed the guy who killed it did it more for status to the group than anything else. Don't know if it was karma but that guy felt some pain later for sure.

Yeah, that guy made me very angry. He got what he deserved, for being a show off, and killing when there was no real need to take another life.
