Billewicz Oct 01, 2010 02:31 PM

Does anybody know if the artificial vine used all over Disney World's animal enclosures is commercially available?

Thanks and all the best,

Michael

Hello,

This article has some great stuff here. Thank you. What I'm interested in is the 'rope' that has the feel of soft rubber, about 5/8" thick, smooth, mottled and soft to the touch. It has structure like cable, yet it will lay limp like a vine. The Disney parks have miles and miles of this stuff all through the animal enclosures in the Animal Kingdom.

Unlike the mossy textured vine found in pet stores, this stuff could be easily wiped clean with a cloth without snagging the texture. This is of interest because I'm housing over 200 lizards, most of which like climbing.

Thanks again,

Michael

Michael,

Take a look at Polygem Inc.'s products:

http://www.polygem.com/zoo/zoopoxy.php

I have used a number of their products for sculpting, and they are excellent. They offer several flexible coatings that can be used over rope to create pliable, rubber-like vines. Take a look at the vine making tutorial under the "How To" category for detailed instructions.

Perfect!!!!!

Thank you very much. This will work for the custom, cleanable vines, logs, bark and hides I want to make for my 200 lizards.
