I havnt had reptiles in a couple years, however i used to have burmese pythons, ball, savannah and nile monitors, RES and more. I moved over to the salwater fish hobby though recently "rescued" two boas from a neighbor who moved out and left them behind. The first is a 14 inch or so female red tail boa and the second is a small 5 inch sand boa, hes white with black spots. Does anyone know anything about this sand boa? Ive tried feeding him pinkies and crickets with no luck, its been nearly a month and he still isnt feeding, the female RTB is eating weekly however. I just started a new job and am waiting on my first check so i havnt got many supplies. Right now im housing them both in a sliding rubbermaid droor that is about 2 ft long and a foot and a half wide. Im using a heating pad, I have a mixture of reptile sand and a bark like substrate with two hollowed logs for hide boxes. Ive also placed some artifical plants, moss and branches to make them for more at home. I also have one question about the red tail, it seems about a week ago she went into shed (her eyes were blue) but she came out of it and now is going back into shed again, is this normal? I keep the droor humid and keep water fresh daily, does anyone have any tips for me?

I don't know much about sand boas but if you are housing them together than that could be why the sand boa isn't eating. Also being this time of year and the sand boa changing homes could be other reason why it going off food.

I would separate them immediately if they are together, both require different habitat temps/humidity and substrate. Give the sand boa some time to settle in and try feeding a small prey in a couple weeks.

As for the boa, just keep him humid and wait to see what happens with the shed, should be fine. Only concern is if he doesn't shed in one piece especially the eye cap and tail.
