FL permit question...

FireStorm Oct 03, 2010 09:32 AM

I just had a quick question about the FL permit to possess class III wildlife for sale. I had my permit for 2 yrs, then let it laps as I wasn't breeding or selling anything for a few years while I finished school. Now I'm applying for the permit again, but this time under my business name (registered fictitious name). But now I jointly own the collection with my mom (the fictitious name is jointly registered as well). I'm in the process of filling out the permit application using the fictitious name, but the app only has a place for one owners name. Do we need two permits - one for me and one for her - even though we are joint owners of the business? Hope all that makes sense. Thanks for the help.

I would call them for the right answer, because if anything is wrong they will send it back and delay your permit. Get it strate from them. I think you can still talk to a person their. VM

To keep your class III you will need to pay for the year(s) you missed as the permit is retroactive.
I would just enter the business name and your name into the info fields on the permit application. Anyone with a copy of the permit in hand should be okay if a FFWCC officer were to request it.
Call Capt. John West at (850) 488-6253 or email at john.west@myfwc.com for clarification.

Thanks for the contact info. I will try to get in touch w/him today. I wasn't aware that I'd have to pay for the years I didn't keep my permit...that seems unreasonable since I wasn't required to have a permit during those years. So basically that means if you had a permit, got out of snakes, then got back in they could make you pay for a permit for years you didn't even have snakes? I sent the application in last week, but I will see if I need to send in additional $$.
