W/C Mud Snake Hatchling

Godfrey Oct 04, 2010 06:52 PM

Couldn't find a better forum to post this, but this is a w/c hatchling mud snake. I have never encountered one this small. Just wanted to share before I release him.

Awesome man!

The exact same snake that so-called "survival" show with the guy and his wife. They were all freaking out over one that was attempting to consume an amphiuma, then they proceeded to needlessly kill both and ate them to portray to the TV audience that they were both starving to death..LOL!

GOD! those shows pi$$ me off when they kill all these animals needlessly for the sake of TV entertainment!!

Great find man!

Good luck with those very cool "moonshine" greenish Rats too!

Thanks, Doug. I also hate those shows. They should go ahead and be truthful. Describe what they COULD kill and eat if they were in a predicament. Reality TV is making fiction out of real life!. I saw a blue heron take an amphiuma away from a water snake a couple of weeks ago. The snake was lucky to get away itself. The Moonshines are doing well. They are growing fast. The yellow is starting to come in on them now.

I fully agree man!. Yes, they should simply POINT OUT the things in nature that would keep you alive if someone was ever in those life-threatening situations. Unfortunately, these show producer's figure the "shock-value" of them ripping off the head of a live animal with their teeth is more "entertaining" for today's TV audience.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear those killer moonshine's are doing so well and coloring up nicely. I look real forward to seeing more of those bad boy's in the future. Definitely one of the most interesting rat morphs to come around in quite some time in my opinion

I wish more shared your thoughts on the Moonshines. I have had no serious inquiries to date. I am kinda disappointed to say the least. I expected a little more with what appears to be a new morph. I guess I would have seen more interest had it been a corn. Oh well. If you ever want to see some larger photo files shoot your email address to me at jgodfrey@sccoast.net. I'll send some new ones to you.

Doug, I couldn't agree more.

I've always disapproved of such antics, and now it has become commonplace on those shows.

On a good note, I see kids in my son's school react to reptiles very positively. Either they like them or they don't, but those that don't are not out to harm them either. This is a good trend, and there may be a number of factors involved, but certainly education has been key. (By stark contrast, when I was a kid some kids were very cruel to reptiles..).

Then these shows come along and try to make us stupid again. Although, Jersey Shore is the best show on TV, lol.

Mark,....That is always great to hear about some positive stories involving reptiles. And it is too bad the good stories and experiences aren't heard more often.

Would good stories and interactions with reptiles sell in the media?,...certainly NOT!. See, as you already know, these false stories and portrayals are what "sells". And if more of the general public were more educated and informed on reptiles, they wouldn't accept all the ridiculousness either, but unfortunately I don't think things will ever change much about this.....a little bit yes, but not nearly enough.

Seems that people don't want to understand anything they are afraid of, and they stay afraid because they do not understand.

It is just one big repetative "catch-22" cycle of ignorance that is tough to get broken..LOL!

Wouldn't it be great to have students in school take mandatory "understanding reptiles 101" as a regular course in ALL schools??..LOL!

But then you would have parents suing the schools for subjecting their kids to "cruel and unusual punishment" I guess, and have to be compensated the rest of their lives from the lawyer's claiming they were all mentally tortured, etc...

We live in some very crappy times now in MANY ways to be quite honest.
