I'm so worried, When hurricane isabelle came through, it wpied our power out, and we are just now getting the power back on saturday.. (I hope) That means my poor baby has been without heat for a week, and has missed two meals. I know he is hungry, but I cant feed him if he doesnt have any heat to digest with right? I'm very worried, as its starting to get cold. What can I expect when his heat comes back on. he has an undertank heater and a 12 hour cycle light. I've made sure he has water. I hope I'm not being bad, but I dont have any choice as i had no one to watch him. i'm feeling so guilty for him, can someone shed some light?

As long as he has been kept above 70F at night and allowed to get in around 75-80F during the day then you should be fine. Once his heat comes back on start feeding him again.

...back in 1990 we had a severe ice storm mid February when I was living in central Illinois and lost power for a week. I went out and bought a $2000 gas-powered generator, but the first day and last day (the generator blew a gasket) my boa and pythons got down into the low 50'sF!!! The snakes all hunkered down and only one brazilian rainbow boa got resp infections. Everyone else (about 20 snakes) got through it with no trouble. Point is many of these animals can withstand these insults and come out fine. Good luck! Scott J. Michaels DVM

You can get the pocket/animal warmers and place em in a sock or two so they dont get super hot and use that as an emergency heat source for the snakes.........The same types of heaters used in shipping snakes or reptiles..
