Substrate questions

Steve_Craig Oct 10, 2010 10:23 PM

Anyone try Yesterday's news pellets as a substrate? I saw some at Petco under the cat litter section, but I wasn't sure if this was the same Yesterdays's news that can be used for small animal/reptile bedding as well. I decided to hold off to make sure before I purchase a bag.
I'm experimenting with a few substrates, and one I just placed in a few of my cages is "Aspen Super Pellets. Only deal with this particular substrate is you don't seem to get the larger quantites like you do with the compressed aspen. On the other hand the Yesterday's News pellets looks promising as far as price and quantity. (30 Lb. bag)
If all else fails, I'll continue to use shredded aspen. No real problems with it, other then it can be a bit dusty at times, and tends to make a mess on the floor when cleaning and/or changing out substrate. Thanks, Steve

I used to use it or and Cellsorb Plus....pelleted recycled paper. I used it for kenyan sand boa and other burrowers. Downside is weight in some instances. Otherwise it is good.
