Guyanese BCC litter born on 10/10/10

Jonathan_Brady Oct 11, 2010 02:17 PM

So after 5 months of courtship primarily from one male, but another was also used, a rather small ovulation, minimal swelling during gestation which turned into big swelling, which later went back to minimal swelling, Lily delivered a litter of Guyanese BCC yesterday around 3-4 in the afternoon.

I didn't count the slugs, but there were approximately half a dozen, maybe as many as 8 or 9. 7 healthy babies, 1 stillborn (which was beautiful), and 1 deformed (which was also beautiful). Mom is doing VERY well, and is digesting a rat as I type that she was given just a few hours after parturition.

I was hoping to see some reverse stripes in this litter, like Mom. And I also was hoping to see some laddertails in this litter (there are a few animals with a few white "ladder" markings but nothing as extreme as I had thought/hoped I'd see), as I theorize that laddertails and reverse stripes are related. The male that was in there for the majority of the time, has produced laddertails in the past so I believed he had the genes. The possibility exists that this litter was NOT sired by him as I also put Mr. Damn in the cage to encourage courtship and breeding behavior as Lily was REALLY holding out on the ovulation.

Lily was born in captivity to a female captured gravid in the wild. Mr. Incredible was also, and Mr. Damn was a WC, all animals from Guyana. This is NOT a locality litter as I do not have any more specific info on the mother, besides that her mother was imported from Guyana. I don't know where in Guyana. The two males both have origins to the Essequibo River but without the female having the same info, I can't call the babies locality boas. Just "country of origin" boas. Which is fine, cuz they're HOT!

On to the pics

Thanks for looking! And thanks to all those who congratulated me thus far on facebook, email, and of course by phone

What's written above is purely my opinion. In fact, MOST of what you read on the internet is someone's opinion. Don't take it too seriously
