Shipping hognose?

StevePerry Oct 12, 2010 09:25 PM

I'm not sure where I heard this, but just a few months ago I was told that US fish and wildlife did not list hognose snakes on there venomous list or that they had listed them with the exception that they were not concidered dangerous to humans.
Anyone have any info on this?
Second, I was informed recently that it became unlawful to ship hognose snakes via UPS or FEDEX.
Any info on this?

Thanks,
Steve

I the best of my knowledge, the USFWS does not keep a list of "venomous" animals. They are primarily charged with protecting rare and endangered species.

Regarding shipping. I am verified to ship snakes (including w. hogs) through FedEx. I do know that you CANNOT ship snakes through ShipYourReptile.com (which is UPS).

In Florida, hognose venom is not considered "medically relevant to humans", so no hot permit is required
