i use a ceramic crock, like you would use for a bird. they don't seem to realize that they can jump out of it, and just crawl around in circles.

Use a deeper straight sided container. I use a smaller sized plastic Critter Keeper box and put a convenient perch across the top for the cham to shoot from. Also, keep some gutload in the box so the crix have some reason to stay put.

I just use a rubbermaid cup..like an 8oz one. smooth sides and the crix tend not to jump out. One thing I do is mist the bottom of it..it tends to slow them down a bit.

The only time they get out is if my cham hits two of them at the same time and drops one.

Never had a problem.

yes. i just made a new one out of the bottom half of a green plastic ginger ale bottle. it's pretty deep, but the tongue does a long way... and the crix cannot jump out.

Make sure the edges are smooth. would not want him to hurt his tongue on the sharp plastic. maybe tape the cut?

that might help...

good idea though...I think I might start doing that.

and hang the handle over a branch then secure it with a pipe cleaner.
