You're not stupid. =) Please post the picture on this forum, there are plenty of people here who would gladly ID your lizard for you. I have found that we are an enthusiastic bunch of people, who enjoy these types of questions!

Are you guys able to recognize the species only looking at the photos? For me the differences are so tiny i dont think one day ill be able to do it!lol! Thanks for answering my question in such a nice way!

If you want a good place to practice recognizing different species, check out www.deerfernfarms.com Their uros are all categorized by species. After you've seen a few, you'll start getting the hang of it. Then you can check out www.urotopia.com and see if you can identify which uro species are which in the picture of a bunch of baby uros on the lower part of the page. Good luck

People here seem to be very nice!

oronate uromastyx cost a lot of money, and you would know if you bought one. The most likely possibility is that is is a mali. They are the most commonly seen in the pet trade, and the most commonly available.

Although im Brazilian im living in Malaysia (Southeast Asia)so perhaps the URO's species available here are different from the ones sold in the USA! I paid USD 250 for my baby!I think it is a Saharan because of the size (13 inches) and of the personality! Impossible to be more sweet!Even in the first day when i handle it for the first time it didnt become nervous at all!It was 100% relaxed and calm! It was love at the first sight!lol!I took already some photos that will develop soon and then ill post here! But id like to be able to notice the difference between Saharan and Mali besides the size and the personality of course!lol!
By the way your babies are gorgeous! They look VERY well cared and happy! Are they male and female?Dont they fight?

Here is my orange Saharan i ave him in with my female right now andthey get along fine. If it is a male, of any uro species and itis 13 inches long you should be able to tell by the color, plus i have a pore picture on my above post that i screwed up by accident, the one where i am asking "rico did somethign weird" or something like that. But if your uro has bright colors it is probably male, if they are a bit darker or dull female. Not to say you might not have a mimic but that is rare. post a pic and we can tell!

And it's a female because doesnt have any bright color! Its a dull brown with some orange/bluish spots on the back and a cream belly!Id like to have such a beautiful and bright color male Saharan too but im happy with my female! She is soooooo sweet!
Well, i think mine is a Saharan like yours because of the fat/large cheeks and the shape of the head.Do you notice any behavior difference between Saharan males and females? Are the males more aggressive or they are as nice as females?
I have both URO and Beardie and my female URO (supposing its a Saharan female)is still more sweet than my Beardie!Thats normal?By the way, CONGRATULATIONS, your URO is GORGEOUS!

i would say the dull color means female, but mayeb you have a somali with the blue spots, because fmeale saharans do not have blue on them. Get a picture if you can. And with mine i do not notice much of a different personality mine were both WC turned LTC so they get a little POed sometimes when handling. I think the female is more tame just because i had to do alot of meds on her when i first got her. Plus rico is strong he's a big boy.
Good luck and get a pic i'd love to see!
