I just recently purchased a baby mojave at a trade show. My little girl just had her first b.m. and there is something strange going on. There is black grit in the poo that is kind of like sand. Wasn't sure if this was normal for babies or if there is some cause for concern. I've been keeping ball pythons for about seven years now, but all of the animals I've had up until this point were at least three months old and I've never seen anything like this out of them. I've seen the white urates, but this is something different.
The little girl has eaten and shed since I bought her, and seems otherwise to be in good health. I've got her in a sterlite container with four holes on each side, two in each end. The temps in the enclosure have been steady at 90-95 on the hot end and around 80 on the low end with between 50 and 65% humidity. Her cage is lined with paper towels.
Like I've said, this is the first odd sign from the little girl, and I wasn't sure if it was just due to her being so young or if it was a sign of something bigger and worse.
Thanks for the advice.
