Hey Colby,

I wish it were reverse for me actually......I'd love to relocate to California sometime soon. =) I'm originally from SoCal(San Fernando Valley) and moved to NY when I was 15.....I'm now 38 and just re-visited California this past April with my 11 y.o. daughter. It was amazing.

I live in Queens, NY, just on the border of Long Island. There are lots of great herp folks, as well as the occasional knucklehead, here in NY. Where have you settled in NY?? If you're closer to the city, then I have lots of great connections for you. If you're further away, I'd have to rap into some friends to see what's available to you.

I work primarily with California mountain kingsnakes (Lampropeltis zonata), coincidentally which I'm doing a presentation for the Long Island Herp Society tomorrow. Feel free to email me at: mbshop@aol.com

I'm on the right, and to my left is my best buddy Gerry who joins me in the field in the New Jersey pine barrens throughout the year.

And my life's passion (next to my two amazing kids): Lampropeltis zonata

Dang! i wish i read this in time for the presentation, back home zonata are so often the prize haha. Right now I'm in Manhattan but I will be relocating by the 1st (thats the plan anyway) I'd be very grateful to meet some cool people and herps. Where were you giving your presentation? Is there 1 or 2 good reptile clubs here? I havent been able to find a date or meeting location

Hey again,

The presentation on zonata went well. Well, for those who really wanted to "learn" something it went well. A few nodded off, but they tend to be lizard folk and could care less about snakes. I'd be glad to share the presentations with you as I have them saved. Actually, I have the first one on my website entitled "Zonata - Past and Present".....it has everything except the photos.

Like I said, contact me personally and we can shoot the breeze a bit. I'm just 15 minutes outside of NYC.....let me know where you're relocating to! Would like to get to talk a bit outside of the forum and give you a proper NYC greeting. Could give ya lots of other tips as well, especially culinary go-to spots that are to die for.
