Dragons have names, thanks to my wife

zrho Sep 25, 2003 10:46 PM

I don't name them folks, I just try to keep'em happy ... same as I do with my wife.

female A.capra

After seeing a picture in Marcia's article, I'm not so sure this is a female A.capra. Looks very much like the shot of an A.armata in the MHD article in Reptiles. Opinions welcome ...

No, thats definitely a very typical capra

Very glad to see you are still on the boards sir, and thanks for clearing things up. I was used to seeing your name on the basilisk and water dragon forum frequently - this was a few years ago. I was keeping P.cocincinus at the time. Did I see a thread where you are working with Acanthosaura and/or Gonocephalus as well?

ingo Sep 29, 2003 01:17 AM

Yes, you have a sharp eye

But after moving to our new house I gave up the Acanthosaura.
For the moment two pairs of Gonocephalus chamaeleontinus is all "Mountain/Tree Dragons" related what I keep-but I still have lots of other lizards

Male A.capra - I just about fell over laughing when she came up with his name.

im almost positive that zoe is a capra, here is a pic of a armada which i believe is what i have as it has a set of horns on its head and on the back of its neck but its still a baby and hard to judge but im judging by the horns on its neck

zrho Sep 25, 2003 11:22 PM

Unfortunately, neither Randy, or Zoe, are displaying any horns at all. Daisy has a singular horn that has nearly fallen off. I will have to check the backs of their necks to determine if an occiput horn is, or was, present. Thanks for your input.

i know when i got my 1st dragon (capra) both horns have fallen off probly due to stress or shipment but looked just like yours minus horns

Custom unit from Showcase Cages, 5'H, 4'L, 2'D. Plants are all artificial, secured in polystyrene foam blocks and stuck to the enclosure walls using a glue gun. The container in lower left is filled with moist coconut fiber - and a feeding dish. The water container has a powerhead for movement, and rocks to avoid drowning dragons. The enclosure is lit with a 30" retrofit dual bulb, reflector unit with moisture proof end-caps. I'm using 2 Zoomed Reptisun 5.0 bulbs. Temp can reach 80 degrees at the top of the enclosure, and usually remains around 72 degrees at the bottom. Average temp is usually around 76 degrees F. Humidity has fluctuated from 65% up to 90% after a good misting.
