Kastanie or Chestnut Corn pics thoughts

gofer Oct 19, 2010 02:08 PM

Hello everyone,

I was very happy to produce 4 babies from a pair of possible het for Kastanie (Chestnut Bloodred) corns this season. The female is doing great so I expect a much larger clutch next year and am hoping for an albino (Mandarins...) I produced 2.1 that look like normals but a little on the hypo side and am attaching pics of the slightly aberrant and striped tail male I like the most right now.

I also produced 1 male that looked like an anery but not the usual anery corn appearance. And now with some sheds behind him he is getting more faded and "charcoal" in appearance. The pics below are after his first shed, I need to get some new pics of him here soon. I am still very new to this morph and would like any thoughts and suggestions on my clutch plus just details on these corns in general. I believe they are more popular over in Europe.

Thanks for looking and any suggestions you have! Have a good day,

Gregg F.

Gregg, I just acquired a pair of het Kastanie corns that are also het. ghost and stripe. So, there are apparently hets and possible hets floating around out there with the hypo, anery, and striped genes. Not unlikely your anery is just that, an anery. Maybe the "rosacea" muted coloration that causes the chestnut coloration in the "blood" variant also causes color changes in the anery/anery variants and hypo variants??

Thanks for the details, greatly appreciated. I put some new pics on my website and it definitely is going through color changes. I will hopefully get new pics after every few sheds. Good luck with yours, anytime you want to e-mail me to chat about them that would be great. gregg@greggsrb.com

have a good one,

your "anery" looks like my carmels do when they are young.
Best of luck with the project. the one with the kinda stripe tail is real nice looking

Thanks Misty! I also like the partially striped tail too and can't wait to watch these guys grow. Plus I am hoping for more results next year with a larger clutch.
