So on day 70, incubated at 78-80 degrees my black milk clutch of 14 decided to hatch. Nearly all at once. Here's some pics. Nice beefy hatchlings. For once, I'm actually going to keep at least a pair from this clutch.

Thanks. I really think they are the perfect pet snake. Good size, calm demeanor and super-easy to keep at room temperature. Plus, an awesome feeding response on FT usually.
Those are sweet - congrats!

Thanks Tim. I love when these guys hatch out.
I will have at least one of these...one day!
Congrats!

What are you waiting for? Seriously, I think they are the perfect snake.
Nooice Rob! Another good looking group of gaigeae you have produced again.
-Dell

Thanks Dell. Is that picture one of my hatchlings or a different hatchling you picked up last year from some new blood?
Very nice... I'm a little jealous, feels weird not having hatchlings around this time of year. I may try brumating my pair this winter to ensure breeding success in the spring.
Nate
Don't sweat it Nate. We all strike out sometimes.
So the whole clutch hatched out no problems. Check out the picture. I did get a couple of aberrant patterned hatchlings which is a first. There's a picture of him or her below. Doesn't really matter since they'll all be black eventually.
I did some digging in my records and found that this female has bred the past five years for me laying a total of 74 eggs - 73 of which hatched. She was proven for one year before I bought her but she was not bred until she was 5 years old. I think that makes a difference with this breed. She double-clutched for the first year laying a clutch of 15 and then 7. Every year after she has laid one big clutch, usually late in the season.

Very cool, Rob! You've got a nice group, there. I'd hold a few back, too... LOL
