Okay, So I started my season earily with a F Albino Motley X M Moonglow breeding. lots of courting. This male bred 2 years in a row and I assume he knows what he is doing. Well she is olvulating now but the male moonglow wants nothing to do with her. I assume that is a sign that the deed is done. But I usually leave the male in until the female sheds(POS). Here are pics taken 2 days ago of the female albino motley with a huge bump in her belly. My question is why is the female on the cold side of the cage, and why doesnt the male still court her? Is the deed done? If so wouldnt see be on the heat and go blue?

So I throw a differnt male in with her tonight, and he is now all about her.. They were together for 2 hrs and I snapped these pics? I think they are fully attached.. Now why wouldnt the moonglow complete the deed, or if the deed is completed, then is it possible to have some babies be of one father, and other babies be of a different father??

I had the same thing happen to me this year. My male wanted out. The female was ovulating and he was still not interested. I put him on a different female to try it out and he hopped on her,put him with the original female and he was cruising the cage. She didn't have a POS because she shed 2 weeks before ov. She is swelling and staying coiled on the heat and refusing food. I'm hoping it is good signs!

Obviously if the 2nd male you introduced went to work, the deed is not done, unless it's just a super horny male. Is it possible that the original male is going into shed? My males usually stop breeding a few days before their shed is noticeable to me.

Maybe this is the case with your male? Did you try putting him to a different female to see his reaction?

I have a male that continues to court and copulate after ovulation. Even when the female is blue. He's just relentless like that! This has happened with both females he bred, 2 years apart.

I personally just wait for signs that the female is going blue, then I remove the male. I'd hate to see an ovulation, assume the female is done, and then have her ovulate again after I've already pulled the male out.
