Curiosity Question

jenniferm25 Oct 23, 2010 01:16 AM

Has anyone gotten a surprise from breeding what you thought were normal ball pythons or heard of it ever happening? I'm thinking of getting a pair of hets and breeding them in a few years. But the gambler in me wants to just get a couple of different looking normals and breeding them to see what happens. I know, it's a dumb idea. For curiosities sake, does anyone know of any surprise normal breedings?

Thank,

Jennifer

Jeniffer,

At one time yellow bellies were considered normals, fires were probably considered normals, specials were considered normals, and I'm sure the list goes on.

Most of us work with what we call dinkering projects, but we also work with what we know will produce certain morphs.

Good luck with your quest.

I think a lot of stuff has popped out due to "oddballs".

Super stripes, crystals, paintballs...to name a few.

I am sure a lot of people have odd-looking "normals" in their collection that they decided to keep to breed them and see what happens. I know I have a few of them...normals with "granite-like"look, a couple of normals from the last clutch (normal x pastel) that came out with granite looking sides and identical spots on the side of their noses... I am sure that a lot of morphs out there were at one time or another considered to be just odd looking normals.

Let's see if this picture comes up. I breed a het for albino male to a "normal" female.

Copy and paste the direct link from photobucket into the line that says Image URL. It should work like this:

You can teach an old dog new tricks. Thank you very much. I am going to post things on here all of the time now. You guys are going to be tired of seeing my snakes!

Wow, that is all very cool! So is a dinker a "normal" that looks a bit different or has certain markings?
