Combo or No Combo???

Pitoon Oct 26, 2010 04:57 PM

Ok, everytime I pull this hatchling out of his tub I can’t help but to think there’s something else going on here besides what he is…..

I’ve attached pics of the father, mother, and the hatchling itself (with flash and without)

Do you guys see anything different with this hatchling? I mean he is BRIGHT!!! I’m wondering if he’s a combo or not. He came out of a 3 egg clutch and the other two were normals. His colors are very similar to a Desert, but just brighter! I've actually seen Deserts darker than him?

Since he was born he just keeps getting brighter and brighter. This one got me thinking….

What's your thoughts on this one?????

X 2...Fire!!!

pitoon Oct 27, 2010 01:59 AM

Yes he is a Fire, but the brightest Fire i've seen to date. which is what had me thinking. I thought the father was nice and bright when he was a hatchling, but there's no comparison to his son. I guess you have to see it in person to understand what i'm talking about.

I'm sure the mother's genetics helped with the black background, but i'm still wondering if the can reproduce her pattern.

next year....son x mother to find out.

Beppe you are always welcome to come over if you are willing to make the 3hr drive. If not, see you at Hamm or Longarone!

I don't see any mother's influence. You must think that every snake you buy is the discard of every breeder. The best babies generally rest at home! Every year happens to me with each morph I produce; I see special stuff in every snake. Obviously you must breed this son back to his mother! Never say never! :D

>>I don't see any mother's influence.
*****go look on KS classifieds and see the Fires up for sale….then look at my hatchling. There’s a huge difference. Maybe if you see it in person you will think different?

>>You must think that every snake you buy is the discard of every breeder.
*****When you say discard are you referring to trash? Sorry, but I do not buy trash. The mother is an African import that I bought as a hatchling from an importer. So you say she’s trash? The mother may or may not be a normal…but does she look normal is the question.

>>The best babies generally rest at home!
*****So is your Ultramel discard since she didn’t stay with the breeder? I don’t think so. It’s pretty immature to say that the best stay at home. The animal industry as a whole is a very, very big money maker. People sell for many reasons….with the top reason being for cash!

>>Every year happens to me with each morph I produce; I see special stuff in every snake. Obviously you must breed this son back to his mother! Never say never! :D
*****Sure I agree every snake is special in their own right. But when something doesn’t look normal or catches the eye is when you need to dig a bit deeper. The pairing of the son x mother is planned for next year. I’ll see then what happens.

Ahahahahah trash...dear Pitoon you know I'm not english or american so I've little problems to explain correctly my opinion in your language.

pitoon Oct 27, 2010 09:29 AM

Ahahahah...Bravo Pitoon!
Totally agree with you.

I didn't think Beppe's tone was offensive, but again, being italian makes sense in MY head...maybe translated into english sounded a bit harsh.
Peace out!

Luca,
Beppe is my bud! I know he didn't mean any harm. Maybe he just used the wrong words to translate what he really wanted to say.

One problem with writing on forums is that there's no facial expressions, hand/body movements, gestures. Writing something and saying something can be understood differently.

What line of fire was he? I had similar babies last year from a fire male to a normal. Two where very normal looking fires and two are very bright/yellow. The bellies are clear but are completely yellow. They are now 1000 grams and still bright but not as faded/hypo like most fires. I have been wondering if this is just variation in the fire gene?

funny you mention that, this particular hatchling does have the yellow on the belly you are talking about it. can you please post pics of yours as a hatchling and as an adult....it would really help to see what he could potentially look like as an adult.

maybe he's just a normal fire? maybe the mother had something to do with it also. i do plan to breed him back to the mother next year.

i'll post pics when the time comes.

Rolf,
Who did you get that female from? I got mine several years ago from Stefan at M&S, she was a Ghana import. She does look like the father, just a bit darker.

Will you have a table at Hamm in December?
