I think Vin Russo did ultra X caramel and got double hets and eventualy the double recessive. I think it was called camarillo or something like that.

Hmmmmagain....Bell line yellow X normal caramel...camarillos....

and Camarillos look like they could be ??? Toffee/Bananas...depending on change of colors with age...

cool........

who has even the Bell line yellows?...don't see yellow caramel online for sale......(I know call Bells).......someone else has to have them....but probably they are almost all kept back....

...Cool...Thanxx again all....!

rootbeer caramel, yellow caramel,crider,camarillo,
and even Toffee and other Toffee-ish stuff....best stuff out there maybe.....(I like them all better than most of the 4 and 5 way crosses so far...).

That animal is a combination between the Bell and NERD line caramels.

Bell and NERD line caramels are compatable ("Rootbeer" type. Vin talks about a different "caramel" in the story on his site. "Orange". If you compare the "Orange" described with a "Utramel" you will see they are about identicle.

A Bell line Caramel and NERD Line Caramel, "Rootbeer" type, when crossed do not make a Camarillo!

The explination on his site leaves much to be desired. The Camarillo is a double recessive (0ne in 16 from double hets). The two base morphs are the standard Bell line Caramel crossed with the mutation called the Crider Ball. Now it comes down to weather or not the Crider ball and the Ultramel are the same mutation. Based on how they look I would say it is highly likely they are the same mutation. Here are some pics.

Thanks for that explanation. I have been wondering about that for some time. Anyway, would the same be true for different axanthics? Would a double homozygous have a more pronounced phenotype? I've always wondered if the different axanthic traits where on the same gene.

OK..and yea...see the top pic you posted just screams Toffee to me but dark...like it could fade to Toffee (I know ,baby not yellow).....like a crider ghost would look just like a Toffe then?...hmmm......would be good and bad....

...Thanxxx all>.....guess I won't be mix and matching them at all then......
