How many genes can we cros in one snake?

tnbreptiles Oct 29, 2010 06:35 AM

Hi,

I was wondering if somebody knows how many genes we can cross in one snake without any problems? I saw video´s on the web where animals have serious problems. Before kinking was only with the Caramels and now some three and four triple gene animals also are kinking. Is that just coincedence????

Regards

James

I believe it all depends on ones breeding practices my self. Shouldn't be a reason why you couldn't cross dozens or more into one animal.

i pose a question why would you want to and how can you tell there is actually 6 or more genesin a snake and what they are?

My personal opinion...4 is decent.
Once you get past that, it's hard to tell.

Brian at BHB has said he has stuff that just stumps him because he bred a 4 codom to a 4 codom and has no idea what is in the babies...

But are the babies still fine ? You don't know what you have, but you still have healthy babies.

My guess is that the more you breed multiple morph, more chance that something wrong happen. But as we have seen with corn snakes where there is quite multiple morph animals, they are fine.

I bet the combos you saw, had caramels in them to make them kink.

Just like the spiders combos NERD create where even without knowing there was spider in them, you know there is cause they just WOOBLE like crazy !!!!

Nope no Caramel inside and bu the way there are stories of wobling Champagnes also(Just hearsay I didn´t bred or see them) Kevin (NERD) has a recent video where he holds a snake that has a kind of woble and I think he said domething abouy all those genes into one snake but correct me if i´m wrong.

TessadasExotics Oct 30, 2010 04:19 PM

Pretty sure those animals have Spider in them.

TNBReptiles Oct 30, 2010 04:36 PM

nope, this is a copy of a post on Faunaclassifieds from Wal to Wal Reptiles and I quote
¨Champagnes have a little problem.
As hatchlings, some of them behave in a fashion similar to wobbly Spiders.
Some grow out of it….others don’t.
Some never show any signs of having the wobble in their genes….
But ALL Champagnes carry this wobble…displaying it or not…it IS in their genes.¨

Just imagine if someone put a cinnamon wommabee caramel to a cinnamon wommabee caramel.....I wonder if any of the babies would come out with a dingdong spinning wobble, duckbill, kink. That would be horrible. One another note, I think that you could put as many mutations together as you want as long as your not inbreeding into multiple generations and adding fresh blood to new generations of multiple combos. I think we are very close to seeing a super pastel super enchi spinner cinnamon hidden gene woma hidden gene lesser granite phantom yellowbelly fader. I am confident that NERD will hit it first, but I have NO IDEA how they will tell if they hit all of the mutations, but It will probably have a name along the lines of super killer inferno fader living soul sucker....lol, or something like that.

@TNBReptiles, you're talking about the super woma or what he calls ding dong snakes. The one in my video has many genes bred in to it but because 2 woma genes got in there it came out with and extreme wobble and eventually those all* die.

*=one is alive and doing great, first super woma ever to do so.

I have already seen all of your NERD visit vids, and they all rock! Thanks you so much for doing that. You are the only one I know that has done something like that.
