'06 Sharp albino female from Mike Weitzman of Basically Boas.

This girl is a handful to have in the collection.

If she smells pee from another female, she'll start pacing her cage and work up her system so she can scent her cage, or leave urates of her own. If she smells poop, she'll scent her cage. I clean her cage about 3 times per week.

I can literally watch this process happen. If I see another animal pee or poop. She'll go from sleeping in a corner, to poking her head up and smelling the air. Then she'll smear her face all over the acrylic door while she continues smelling the air. Then, she'll do what I call "running laps" where she literally goes in circles around the cage for about 15-20 minutes, then she'll lift her tail and do her business - always on the cool side of the cage. The oddsmakers is Vegas wouldn't bet against me on this. I promise.

She's also the most active of my boas at night. She moves around for a good 4-5 hours at night.

All of this pacing-activity leads to a VERY high metabolism, ie, lots of feeding and therefore lots of poop - although the poops are generally very small compared to the size of the prey item. For instance, the poop I just cleaned out of her cage was about 5-6" long and about the diameter of my thumb. That's what's left of a jumbo rat.

She's gained about 6" and 6 lbs in the last year. Yes, you read that right. Six inches and 6 pounds - and it's ALL been muscle. She gets fed more often (about every 12 days), and larger items than any other boa I have and she has a VERY strong feeding response. If you get near that cage, be prepared to hear WHAP! as she strikes the acrylic door if it's been more than 6 or 7 days since she's eaten. She's also the only animal I have that'll come out of the cage during feeding time. She aggressively pursues her food.

Makes her sound difficult. She's not. You just have to know her and what to expect from her. Although she IS a handful (due to the amount of cleaning involved and the level of caution that must be used when opening her cage, once out of the cage, she is a SWEETHEART to handle and is in fact, quite shy (during the photo shoot, she kept trying to tuck her head in her coils and I'd have to pester her to get her to pull her head out and move around).

Good thing she's tractable as she's also the biggest boa I have. She's a good 6.5' and 13 lbs of completely solid muscle. She is STRONG! She could easily weigh more at this length, but it would just be excess fat which does her no good. And I think you'll agree that the picture shows she doesn't need more size. She's VERY healthy and robust.

I'm starting to wonder if my hypo jungle has what it's going to take to tame this beast! lol I may have to wait another year while he gets bigger. The only problem is, she will too! lol

Thanks for checking her out
