What's your thoughts about Sani-Chips?
I am thinking about switching to those....I tried some in a few tubs and really seem to like it...does anyone have any pros or cons to using the sani-chips?

Andy,
I used Sani-Chips years ago, and really liked the product.
My only advice is be careful. I stepped on a Sani-Chip years ago and it took 2 surgeries on my foot to get it out. The surgeries left my left foot num, because they had to remove a nerve during surgery. To this day I can't walk barefoot without a limp. There is no feeling on the bottom of my foot.
But Hey other than that, they worked great LOL......
Are you going to breed the pair of gold blush mojaves this season?

Andy, the sani-chips seem to absorb moisture a bit. You might want to keep a eye on the humidity levels .
THAT has got to be the most clear example of why I never would use any sanichips.....wow....If a full grown man cannot walk on it....why would anyone take a chance of a ball eating one....or twenty...or more.....
my idea....I never want to ,,,or want my snakes to ,eat a square object........
I see them eat aspen all the time...and I know sooner or later I will lose a good ball $$$$$$......
...........never used them , never will....

I have been using Sani-Chips for years and love them.
But yeah - they are sharp - I've gotten them wedged under my fingernails and stuff and they can hurt - My snakes have also had some minor mouth injuries from chomping down on them with their meals. It's rare but it happens.

Hmm, if they are that sharp...probably best not to use them...There are alot safer substrates out here.. Beta chips probably better..basically hardwood wood chips, much smaller than your typical wood shavings.

Wow, been using them for four years -- never realized how much danger I was in! Sorry, couldn't resist. But seriously, we must be talking about different products -- the stuff Harlan Teklad (sp) puts out, yeah? I've generally got about 30 balls on it, and never seen a problem, even though a couple of those evil little squares surely go down with every meal. Very absorbent, and spot cleans real easy. But hard to find out here -- generally have it shipped to CA from CO. Which isn't cheap.
