Best Snake Cage?

wmerker Nov 02, 2010 12:13 AM

Hi,

I am working with Desert Rat Snakes, Bogertophis and Senticolis. I am looking to find a good display cage with a hinged door that opens in a downward fashion. Of course, there are many cages out there and I am curious whether anyone has any experience/recommendations they can provide. I am looking for a caging system that can provide UV lighting. I know that UV lighting is not typically thought of as imperative for the care and successful breeding of Colubrid snakes, but I think natural lighting is important in a display cage to show off the beauty of the animals. I am looking for a 35 X 17 X 12" (approximately) cage.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

BoaMasters might have what you're looking for.

Never used them, but these have always seemed like a good idea to me:

If you're looking for something pre-made you might want to look at repti-racks. They make real nice lightweight cages for both arboreals and terrestrials. Good pricing and turn around times. Available with or without heat panels. You could easily modify them so you can add slimline fluorescent light fixtures.

Most rack systems like this use clear lucite for drop down doors. It's difficult to adhere hinges to glass doors, eventually the adhesives give up and your doors fall off.

This link will take you to their home page. They have a pretty good deal on 35"x 23" x 12" cages right now. Available in either black or white.
