Boy do I feel stupid

phiff1 Nov 03, 2010 11:37 AM

Almost done building my 6' x 30" x 4.4' tall Sav cage and realized it can't fit through the door to my reptile room (doh!). It is already in 2 sections but my buddy is going to have to cut the top half in half lengthwise.

Can't believe I didn't think of this issue.

Will post pics eventually. My friend the carpenter is doing a really nice job.

Well, that is a common problem. What my friend and I did when we actually build the cage, that I've designed, for his Sav was that we cut all the pieces that is needed and put them together inside the room. We used wood glue which held the pieces together very well and then put screws in it for added stability. It probably would have fit through the door, but we didn't want to carry all the way upstairs.

I have bought cages that were to big. I bought 2 that would only fit it I took the door off and had no extra room. Got lucky on those.

i've done it with cages, computer desk, chairs...*sigh* Measuring spaces is not my strong suite. What always gets me are those little extras...that artistic curve that added 2-3" on the depth of a desk for no real reason...the fact that the chair was slanted so the width was > than the width of the single widest part...*sigh*

We wouldn't have 6 and a half billion people if you had to be beautiful to get laid.
