Noper Line

coralizedboa Nov 03, 2010 01:40 PM

Anyone ever get someone who says...
"I'll take em. Im sending payment today for the boas!" Then...nothing. Not even a "Hey, something came up."
I call these "Nopers" (Nope, no $).
I can understand if something comes up once in a while, but lately it's like the percentage of Nopers are on the increase.
Anyone else notice an increase of the "Noper Line".

make situations like this public on my website in the future.

Honestly, I haven't had it happen too often with me, very rarely in fact. But, should it become commonplace, I'll make it public, along with the name of the offenders.

IMO, what that will accomplish is:
A) get people to at least communicate that they're backing out (I don't even need a reason, just don't leave me hanging)
B) if they're the kind of person to do this, they won't get in touch with me in the first place

What's written above is purely my opinion. In fact, MOST of what you read on the internet is someone's opinion. Don't take it too seriously

oh yeah, I started keeping a list. I call em chinsers. They are all over the place. I had a guy last week spend an hour on the phone with me telling me he wanted one of these and two of those.....like he was at the deli counter ordering cold cuts. Needless to say, he never called back. What gets me going even more are the clowns who call or email you and ask for your very best price. Then when you give it to them, you dont hear from them for three months and they"re annoyed that you sold "their" snake when they finally call back, LOL CLOWNS. Take care. Mike Panichi

it happened to me. I now tell them, the first person to paypal me the money gets the animal. No exceptions. What's worse, is when they ask for a bunch of extra pictures, say they'll buy and then you don't hear from them again. Maybe I should charge 5 bucks for extra pics, lol.

That's what gets me heated the time spent dealing with these
people, sometimes bending over backwards.

I found that in many cases there I.P. addresses are rarely traceable to a real point.

They use B.S. E-mail addy's leading me to believe it must be a game for them !

I think the ones who have asked for more pics, are the ones who never buy. That is the case here.

I think that's an excellent idea. Explain to the would-be buyer that this happens to you ALOT! and the fake buyers disappear once they have collected the pictures. Tell them it's happened so often that it's forced you to implement a policy to charge for extra pictures, and the picture fee will be credited to the purchase price of the animal should they buy. That way you're both covered. If they are just picture collectors, they will probably act all offended just to put on a show and disappear. If they are serious customers, then they should understand your situation and be OK with it. In the end, they don't pay any more for the animal.

Going through it right now

No question it happens, but I sold about 30 animals two weeks ago and didn't have a single person back out of a deal. It all depends on who you're dealing with.

I certainly agree with JB though that the offenders should be publicly outed!!!

Best!
