>>So your saying that people who buy thayeri should expect to have a more than usual set up and require cages with heat tape or other heat sources? I have Alterna and have bred them in the past with no heat. Are they much different than Thayeri?

>>By the way your right some Eastern kings are a pain in the arse too. Corns are a little different, because we have such a wide gene pool, some strains are picky eaters prefering lizards, and others are voracious eaters eating pinkies from the egg.

I say.....Alterna, Pyromelana, Zonata, Mexicana & Ruthveni require very similar set ups.......They are all higher elevation kings......Unlike common kings......
So you bred alterna with no heat.......Were the hatchlings hardy feeders? One way to "trigger" feeding is to let them know it is Summer....heat and humidity......Maybe your snake room is warm enough to do that since you close your a/c vents......
I'll say it again....The MOST stubborn neonates I ever had was a clutch of Holbrooki and a clutch of Cornsnakes.......I guess I got a bad strain from both.......But I also think I have the Mexican and Montane kings figured out........no matter what strain.....
