Vision, boaphile or other? Which one?

monkeyface Nov 04, 2010 03:18 PM

Hello everyone!

I only have 1 ball python (a huge male). Tough to believe I only have 1 huh?

Anyways, I want to give him a better enclosure than his tub. I was thinking about boaphile or vision for a decent cage.

Which do you prefer?

I get mixed reviews on both companys and I'm told they don't really care to ship out just one cage for one customer like me. They prefer doing business with large scale breeders and collection keepers, not guys like me...And to be honest this is the exact response I have been getting from them thus far as they do not return any inquiries.
Maybe others have had a better luck with them. A friend of mine got a response next day when he asked about getting 7 enclosures for his shop. Not sure what to think, even though its really obvious.

Are there any other manufacturers that actually want my hard earned cashola!

Heres what I'm looking for.
- 1 nice and light-weight cage (plastic) for a single ball python
- Plastic / plexy front with hinges and lock ( no wood )
- easy to transport to a tub for cleaning
- holds heat well
- willing to spend just as much as boaphile or vision ($$$ CHA-CHING)
- secure...very secure.
- short wait to receive it. (I've heard 3 months and longer based on the reviews I read)

Thanks all!

p.s. this isn't meant to bash boaphile or vision as I'm sure some of you are fans... but when you don't care to return several inquiries to a potential customer then thats how it comes out. Business is business and thats why I'm looking elsewhere.

Animal Plastics is the way to go for one cage to a hundred. They come broken down (which makes them easy to ship) and you assemble them (real easy). They have great customer service and actually answer the phone and emails. Here is the link. www.animalplastics.com/

I, too, have worked with AP. Even though I was just getting one small rack system, they replied to my emails quickly and courteously and were great to talk to on the phone. A friend of mine just called to discuss single cage options such as you are describing and she said they were wonderful and informative.

I have 4 racks from AP and one 4x2x2 cage. AP customer service is top notch and I love their products.

Don't hesitate to call or email AP. Ali is one of the best in the business. I have a 4' x 2' x 2' cage from them and it has worked great for about five years now. I also purchased adult racks from them and they were very nice.

Right now I use Boaphile racks for my gecko hatchlings. They work perfect and I plan on ordering more. Call Jeff for best response, I have never received a response via email. He has however answered the phone everytime we have called, or he has called us back.

As for shipping time, it's hit or miss during the year. Don't expect one to ship right away unless you order a Vision Cage already in stock which would be a fine option as well.

GL with whatever you decide!

Not to mention ridiculously expensive. We have many habitat racks at work and they are beautiful, functional, and easy to clean. But...I called them to try to order one of the 26 slot, twin column CB-70 racks and the damn thing is $2,800. I can buy the same amount of rack space from Mark at animalplastics.com for half the price. Also, Mark and Allie are ALWAYS happy and nice and 110% helpful every time I call them. The person whom I spoke to at habitat was less than thrilled to be speaking to a potential customer.

I have AP cages and racks for my boas and ball pythons and I wouldn't hesitate to call AP up and order another rack.

I use vision versa racks, AP racks, and freedom breeders. Out of all of them (I like them all by the way, they all have their upsides) I like the freedom breeder the best. The heat panels in them work very efficient, and I am 6'5" and 250 lbs. and regularly have to get stuff down off the tops of all these racks. I regularly climb my freedom breeders to get stuff off the top, and I wouldn't trust the strength to climb on the other two plastic rack systems. Funny story, I even fell off the freedom breeder last week, and about jerked a whole 39 slot cb70 fb down on top of myself. I pulled my shoulder out of socket, and the freedom breeder still sits there unharmed. Freedom breeder 1, me 0.
