Spilled Bowls

theboasphere Nov 05, 2010 09:58 AM

Last night we just cleaned out some caes and introduced some of our males to thier female dates this season and before the night was over one pair had spilled thier bowl and by today another had done the same, now they started courting heavily and the last thing i wanna have to do is disturb them to go in and clean the mess, my question is what types of bowls can i use to help stop this from happening expecially during breeding season?

i was thinking heavy ceramic but checking prices that gets expensive, i then was thinking the stainless steel dog bowls that have wide bases and have that rubber around the base but my concern is the stainless steel ok to use with the Boas? I don;t see why not but I am paranoid lol. Any advice?

thanks!

I tried the stainless bowls you are talking about. I found the same style in plastic it is much heavier than the metal and is even harder to tip.

I use doggie bowls that are wider at the base , and tapered toward the top . I get them at the Dollar Store -- $1 ea. , and they never spill

That works too, but the big ceramic are the way to go. They look awesome, and never spill. Once you get them out of the way, it is great to have a ceramic dish for everyone.

thanks for all the replies! i went to a local pet shop that is a semi warehouse and they actually had some good ceramics at about 8 or 9.00 each so i bought what they had and so far so good, we had to clean our biggest girls cage due to the fresh bowl spill and when we put her back in (after adding the new ceramic) she pretty much crawled her way in right on top of the new bowl and then ended up being coiled up right on top of it after she settled in so if that didn't tip it i may have hit the jackpot lol.

my plan was to originally go with ceramic but the costs i was finding were too pricey at the amount i need, i should have started at the store i planned to go to instead of going the lazy route then going to that store. the ones i have are great because they are also not very deep and are wide so between that and the weight i made out!

thanks again for the input.
