Impacted or what?????????????

mbrawley Nov 05, 2010 10:39 AM

Hi all!

This t-neg Florida female looks impacted to me. She has a very obvious bulge in her midesection that resembles a meal, however it is not...because she has NOT eaten in almost two weeks. The lump feels very soft to the touch (unlike a solid meal)and the rest of her is beginning to appear somewhat thin. I've tried soaking her in warm water, for up to 2 hours, as well as massaging it, with no such luck. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments?

Thanks.

Micah

I think that could easily be swelling from intestinal/stomach bacteria. I personally would administer Flagyl(metronidazole) at a rate of at least 50mg./per kg. of body, then another follow-up dose in 10 days.

If you cannot do this yourself NOW!, I would STRONGLY recommend you see a qualified reptile vet ASAP to diagnose and treat this before it dies.

Good luck man,...that sucks!

JFYI.....The snake's fine. It dropped a big deuce, and then ate a mouse a few days later.

Thanks again,

Micah
