Thoughts from the Desert experts?

One of the last clutches of the year was a Desert crossed with a Pastel Yellowbelly. When these came out of the egg I would have said hands down they were Desert Pastel YB's, they were incredible looking and easily distinguishable from other Pastels and Pastel YB's in the clutch. It is obvious these are YB (Het Ivory) from the bottom side too, no worry there. The ones in question as Deserts have no fade on the back and are jet black.

Here are the questions: The only Pastel Desert I have seen was a little "dirty", hold true with age? Head stripe is connected on all of them but they are dramatically different in person. Any combos where the head stripe is still connected?

Here is a pic of a boy with his sibling Pastel YB. I struggle to immagine this is not a Desert Pastel YB. Here is his pic alone as well. No comments on the photo skills.

I am interested in comments from those in the know, especially PE folks?

That animal looks "different", yet not like the Desert Pastels we have hatched, a typical animal pictured here.

Your animal is very yellow, but our Desert Pastels have shown so much orange and intense color in them.

Weird...
