I have recently discovered the world of corn snakes. I just got this baby corn snake at Repticon and am wondering what morph you thought she might be. I am dizzy trying to figure out all of the variations in these beautiful animals.
Thanks

That would be an amelanistic, or 'amel'.
So this is like albino, right? Do the markings or colors show some type of morph like candy cane or Okeetee? Or is this just an albino common corn snake? .. Chris

You know Corn snakes can change quite a bit as they mature but it looks like a normal Amelanistic, or albino. Sometimes called red albino. It may have some hidden genes floating around but you should always ask the breeders what's in the soup before you buy it. It's usefull info if you decide to breed it someday, and really only he knows what's in it.

I agree with Jorge, looks like a plain old amel. When dealing with the amel types like candycane, or reverse okeetee, you are adding amelanism to a pattern type to produce the desired effect. Candycanes and reverse okees have been line bred to produce a pattern or coloration that expresses the desired effect when the amelanistic gene is added. As Jorge stated, you should ALWAYS check with the person you purchased the snake from regarding the actual morph, genetics, etc. Trying to quess here is a stab in the dark for the most part. Also, even amel morphs like reversee okee and candycane can be graded. Not all advertised as these morphs are picture perfect examples.

as you've been told, it is an amelanistic or amel for short.
Amelanism is a form of albino or albinism in which the melanin(black)is removed resulting in brighter remaining colors (reds, yellows) and red eyes.
you think you're dizzy now...there are somewhere between 70 to 100 color/pattern combinations or morphs of corn snakes...whoo whoo

Thanks for everyone's help. I bought this as a introduction to corn snakes. I have had lizards and am thinking about switching to snakes. They seem like less of a hassle to care for and are more interactive. I am not thinking about breeding at this time since I am just learning. I was just reading about all of the variations and wondered what I had. The people I bought from were at a reptile show but didnt seem really sure which clutch this came from. I think maybe they were filling in for a lunch break. : )
I really appreciate everyone's help on this forum. I will definitely be coming back for more education.
THANK YOU ALL!
Chris
