kia(female) 17" 396 g lethargic

dragonzilla Nov 08, 2010 03:29 AM

Kia has been treated for coccidea 2 or 3 times now but not with Albon. She eats small amount of greens everyotherday. She will eat 10 superworms after she eats her greens 1st. She wont eat crickets I've tried a feeding cage, half hour and clean them out or leave 3 for a whole day. She's only pooping every 3 days(fairly healthy stool). Shes going to the vet soon but she is acting lethargic. She'll hide or take long naps under the newspaper. I always pull her out and put her in the light and heat because she prefers to be cool about 80% of the time. Is being lethargic a symptom to a serious illness? What about tryingprobiotics? whats a good probiotic?

Perfectly normal behavior for this time of year. Many adult and sub-adults will instinctively go into brumation this time of year. The weight is average to above average, without a doubt. No worries there, and many dragons prefer superworms [ most of mine do ] to crickets. No need for alarm or a vet visit IMO.

I agree. If she is lethargic, doesn't eat, and stays in a cool dark place she is likely starting Brumation. I would leave her alone and weigh her weekly at first to make sure her weight remains stable. If she remains stable I would disturb her less often. I check my brumating animals every 5 weeks.
