i've actually been taking pictures of her 'change'. it's been nice to see how her coloring has progressed.

here's a couple pictures when i first got her. she was already a year old.

and then one of the recents to compare her with..

Very nice hypo!....

I see you stepped-up the feeding a bit since you got it as a yearling, which was a very good thing.

They can get quite large if given a decent feeding regimen, and I don't mean power-feeding or over-stuffing either. This is a yearling as well, and she is even a smaller of the two sexes female! So they have the metabolism in the right conditions to grow unbelievably.

Again, nice hypo for sure!

exactly 12 months old (female)

and a male at only 9 months old....

i know. when the guy told me she was a year old. i was /shocked/ she was hatchling (almost) size. 15 inches long. and a little bigger around than a pencil. he was feeding one pinkie every two weeks. the first time i fed her, she ate 4 pinkies. after that initial feed, i tapered down to two pinkies a week. now she's up to 2-3 fuzzies a week. and as big around as my thumb. i haven't checked length recently, so i don't know how much she's really grown.

will she always be stunted?

No, she will catch up well if she is fed good since she is still very young. She might not be quite as big as she might have been otherwise right from the start, but she will still attain a good average size if you feed her well.

best of luck with her!

You're welcome!

Well, lots of gentle handling, but only AFTER it has been two days after a meal.

Many times their seeming "aggression" is due to not being fed enough actually, but not necessarily always.

I would feed her big enough meals to were you can see a moderate substantial bulge in her mid-section. Instead of one small rodent item, you can easily make it two if she has access to one side of her enclosure in the low to mid 80's and can digest things normally. They have one HELL of a digestion metabolism if kept in optimum conditions.

Many times I feed my getula two of whatever they can fit down their tiny heads!..LOL! as long as you give them plenty of time to digest.

My motto is.....don't over-feed them, but feed them very well.

As you can see, getula such as this Outer Banks king will literally FORCE a meal into fitting down their throat with their extremely powerful neck muscles! This two year old aberrant male is now a whopping 51 inches long bruiser!!!
