need opinion on this adult ENCHI

paulbuckley Nov 08, 2010 09:14 AM

do they all brown out to this degree or is this a low grade quality representation of the morph. she is next to a desert for comparison. as she is of breedable size, she is quite expensive.

i appreciate any opinions you can offer. thank you.

You should check out NERD's website. He has great examples of enchi's as well as RDR. As for that Desert, thanks for posting an adult. You dont see many pictures of adults. I wonder why??...Thanks.

That is a hard one man. In my opinion it looks to dark to be an enchi. It is a low grade at best, but pics of its eyes, sides, and belly would help in the determination. At this time of year adult female enchis are like gold, so you would definitely expect to pay as such.

In THAT PIC I see NO Enchi....

need better pic.....really....

The grade of that Enchi is not the best...
But the babies could be as nice as any other Enchis.

My adult female is a very dark and low graded Enchi.
Still she produce nice offsprings =)

to those who say it is not an enchi - it is. look at the white speckling in the lower portions. plus it's from a reputable person who does not need to lie, and as far as looking into, never has. i'm simply asking if it's normal for an ADULT to brown out like this?

it is sounding like it's not the norm but not unheard of, and she's not the highest quality visual representation of the enchi morph.

so many morphs do brown out and we rarely see adults of some morphs posted, so i was hoping to get the opinions of folks who own adult enchis.

thanks!

Watever Nov 08, 2010 07:24 PM

I don't own adult enchis.

I only have a 1000 gram ones. She is getting darker and darker, but at the same time, the yellow is glowing more and more.

It's like a contrast.

Hope this help

sorry if i came off pissy, was not my intention, and nothing you said bothered me - in fact i always think you add some often needed realism and grit here on this forum.

that said - i never asked IF it was an enchi or not. i asked of the quality of this enchi. i am in no position to say who owns this snake as i'm trying to complete a sale - but you will just have to trust me when i say i, and you, and everyone in tis forum, would trust the word of this person.

you are right - the photo sucks and is not helping me complete a sale with this person.

JYOHE Nov 09, 2010 04:23 PM

Hey Paul,

Great PHOTO! (had to say that in spite of the jyohe comments...lol)
Seriously though it is a decent enough photo.
I have no doubts that your snake is indeed an enchi.
As you know, morphs such as the enchi are quite variable.

I have a female that looks uglier than yours!!!
(How is that for boasting...lol)

Quite some time ago, I purchased a pair of c.h. snakes from Michael Cole.
They were sold to me as "Rust Reds".
(When I got them, they were neither rusty... nor red.)
When I first received them, I asked Michael Cole if he thought they could be Enchi Pastels......He was sure they were something different. I was satisfied with them. Although they did not appear red or even orange....I knew that they were indeed something genetic.
Michael Cole told me that as hatchlings they were more rusty and red....hence the name.
Supposedly they were thought to be siblings.
My female looks exactly like your female...only less speckling...a LOT less.
(I think she has one speckle!!!) lol.

While raising the snakes up I changed the name on the label a few times.
(The "Rust Red" name just did not seem to fit these snakes.)
As the snakes aged...they also began to look different from one another.
(both still look promising....just different.)
Eventually the name on the female's cage tag was titled "Enchi?"
She has been a slow growing snake....she hit the 500 gram wall and stopped feeding for quite some time. Finally she began to feed the way I expect a snake to eat.
She slugged out on her first attempt at breeding.
I hope to remove the "?" from her cage tag next season.
Although I have not yet proven her out....I am fairly certain she is indeed an Enchi.

At this point I do not think the snakes were siblings....nor do I think they are the same type of morph.
The male still has me scratching my head. He is definitely genetic. But I am not sure exactly WHAT he is?!?!?
I call him a Brimstone. I hope to create a super form of the Brimstone in the future.
