day 53 of incubation

ghorang27 Nov 09, 2010 02:08 PM

It's been 53 days now and kinda nervious about it. A week ago they were collasping but not sweating?? My older brother cut one open and it was full developed. But only about a inch and a half. (still mad at him) of course it died. So just curious so I candled them and seen some full all black and some not. Looking for some advice on how long it should take.. I know about 55 - 75 days.. I also have 3 20L tanks ready to go. My temps are 84.3- 84.8 and humidity is at 70-75%. There in a hoverbator.. this is my first and last time breeding.

What's the humidity? Have you been adding water?

70-75% since day 1

Oops sorry missed the 70-75% which is a little low. Collapsing can be caused by humidity that is too low. Is the substrate still moist? Are the containers closed with very small air holes?

A picture would be helpful.

There in deli cups that I got from lll reptile. I can't post pics through my cell phone and my comp is dead. I can see the condesation on the sides about a 1/4 of an inch above the vermuclite. Not on the lids.

Even if there's condensation on the sides of the deli cups, the vermiculite can get bone dry. If the verm. is not moist, you need to add water ASAP. Don't get any on the eggs at all though. Believe it or not, you can actually pick the eggs up very gently, spray water in the spot and put the egg back exactly as it was. If you don't think you can do that, spray around the egg, and if any water lands on the egg dab it off immediately with a paper towel.

Ok I just checked the verm it was dry on top. But moist under the eggs and the bottom? So I add a little bit of water to it I use a extra syringe, that I use for giving liquid calcium.
