A first....

This is the first of its kind and the beginning to a LONG road of line breeding for what I think will be some of the coolest Mexicana in our hobby.....

This Mex Mex is the result of a Black Phase X Hypo-E Line pairing......I am raising it up to see if it will turn black and/or salmon (pink)......

I think we will first work on a black & salmon mex mex then take it further and cross it into the granite and future striped lines....LOL

I hope it all works out.....One day there should be black mex mex with pink saddles, speckles and even stripes.......I think it will take a long time though...

Here it is:

You're expecting both traits to come through in this animal?
Cool!

I wish.......I am just stating that no one has crossed the two phases yet (black and hypo-e) and this is the first that I know of.....

I have my fingers crossed.....it will be black or hypo-e.....Both would be outstanding.....

The hypo-e trait has acted co dominant/dominant in the past according to a couple of breeders so there is a SLIM chance.....But I am not counting on it......As of now I think it is going to be dark, but I don't know how dark.....it seems alot of mex mex turn dark with age....Only a few are truly black....

I think it is going to take generations to perfect.....Especially when mixing in the granite gene.....You can't count on two pair of ultra granites to produce a single granite really......

Plus I haven't figured out the hypo-e gene yet.....I don't think anyone has though.......

Then...we discussed the striping.....That is something to work with on the side then throw in the mix later.....
