I'm interested in producing a purple snake when crossed to a mojave. What are the differences between a Phantom and a Mystic?
the name and who produced them. genetically they do basically the same. mystics tend to be a little brighter and so are their combos but I've seen dark mystics and bright phantoms. think of the them like butters and lessers. Some will argue differences but if you put 50 of each in a tub they couldn't divide them up if their life depended on it.

a BAD dog is MADE not bred, support the American Pit Bull Terrier as the greatest breed of dogs on Earth!!!!!
absolutely no difference what-so-ever in phantoms and mystics just like butters and lessers there simply 2 different imported strains hence the name differnce but all in all there the same morph...
I THINK the mystics are browner and the phantoms are blacker. It depends on how much contrast you want. If you want to make a high contrasts albino you use a dark normal, if you want to make a higher contrast purple snake, then use the phantom. Purple passions have more contrast than mystic potions, but essentially they do the same thing. I believe price is also a difference.
I have a follow up question. Do the phantoms have more yellow down their dorsal than the mystics??????

Huh?....

I don't see whats so confusing about my statement whether it be true or not. It is english text. I assume you can read it. So what don't you understand?
I just can't believe that you would knowingly make a post so clearly fraught with misinformation, that's all.

I didn't knowingly give misinformation. I thought I knew about these morphs. Found out I don't know as much as I thought I did. I got edjubicatededed. And now I know.....I think.......there is still a lot of confusion with the mystic/phantom stuff. Sorry....geez
In the future just tell me where I am misinformed, don't be a d!ck about it.....please.

what it boils down to is this. Those with phantoms will tell you whatever they can to get you to spend the extra money to buy one from their line and they will fool some people into doing this. Just like when phantoms were priced at 10k each when they had been produced for quite some time and being stock piled, the mystics were realistically priced based on the actual supply out there. Now was there some people that bought into the "myth" that the two were different morphs, you better believe it and now I bet those people are kicking themselves saying "I could have gotten me a mystic for 3500, DANG!!!!". Now what I will also say in my opinion that both lines should have one name to avoid any confusion of the matter, after all we already do have the RDR and NERD line phantoms, why not the McCain line phantom as well?

I'm sorry you feel that way Josh. And I'm sorry you continue to whine about the name game. I really try to stay out of the "whine" and "steriotype" topics. Don't really know what or where you are going with that little rant....???
Just giving a little photo documentation to put to rest a few accusations.

I concur.

When you create a morph you have the option of naming it anyway you want. Dont buy the morph if the name confuses you, just stay away from them. No one would try to take your thunder, why is it that you try to take away everyone elses? Were you ever first to create a morph? I don't ever recall hearing your name except whining here on kingsnake.

ok...thank you for being gentle about correcting me....geeze. Might as well hang me from a tree or something the way you stuffed your pics down my throat.....(they are beautiful pics by the way.) So then is the Phantom lighter then? Or do they ALL vary now?

Hahaha - I am always looking for opportunities to show pictures of the Mystics I have hatched! In the basic and combo forms, they are really stunning. Thank you for the compliment, and thank you Mr. McCain for getting me started with my foundation Mystic Stud! As far as individual variation, there definitely is some, but all of the Mystics I have hatched have a very nice contrast. As for phantoms I don't have any to compare. It would be nice to see a few posted to compare.

What are the differences between a Phantom and a Mystic?
Hundreds of dollars (and a huge ego).
That's it.

Thank you all for the input and advice. I have also noticed a pretty substantial price tag difference. The Butter/Lesser comparison made it crystal clear. Thanks!
You'll also find that the majority of those saying that the two morphs are not the same are the Phantom owners, they want you to believe that they have something better than the Mystic owners and can thereby justify their inflated prices.
