Hi,
I have a question about genetics.
I cross a Pastel DH Clown Piebald with a Clown.... If one of the outcomes is a Pastel Clown is that Pastel Clown Automaticly het for Piebald or does every gene goes his own way?
Tnx
James

And for example one of the hets has Pied markers is that also directly a DH Pieblad Clown?
James
50% het for Pied

I understand that the result of a Het pairing is 50% possible het for Piebald in this case but my question is the following; Where is the Clown gene there is automaticly the Pied gene or is this seperated.
James
Even if you hit on the pastel clown the babies would still only have a 50% chance of being het for pied. The genes don't have anything to do with one another, you just happen to have a daddy that has some strong genetics. Good luck to you. This is a project I have been working on myself.

Tnx this is exactly what I needed to know.

James,
Yes, if you produced a pastel clown and it had het pied markers it is possible that it could be het for pied. Half or 50% of the babies that hatch from that breeding will be het for pied. If it was me I would hold back any pastel clowns that showed the het pied mark.
Good luck
