My Line of Buckskin Mojaves

wohlerswi Nov 13, 2010 11:59 PM

Here are a couple of pics of my hold back breeder male buckskin. I dont have any more babies for the year but will post some baby pics when I hatch more this season. When I breed this male to a couple of certain females I usually get about 50% of them buckskin, and 50% of them regular mojaves. I hope to have a couple of his buckskin daughters laying eggs this season. The first two pics are of my founding buckskin male (I just had him pop up in a clutch when I bred a regular mojave to a weird ghana female). The first two pics are of him, and the last picture is him last year with a normal clutch mate for comparison. All comments are appreciated.
thanks
Will

Very nice looking animal.
It's interesting that you get 50% buckskins when bred to certain females. Perhaps there is another gene (or genes) in play there?
Very cool, can't wait to see future results.

Will,

I agree with John.

It looks like you might have something very unique going on with him.

Have you tried breeding him back to his mother or a sister, that might prove to be an interesting project.

Good luck with the project and your 2011 season.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I have not crossed the mojaves back to any parents or siblings, but I do plan on it maybe this year. I always end up tying everyone up into different projects, so back crossing them always takes a back burner. I will keep you guys updated, and maybe we should swap some babies this season Brian. I would love to add some of your diversity into my mojave collection. thanks
Will
